FAQ
What does The Dog House Rescue do?
We are a 501c3 non-profit organization involved in the rescue, medical assistance, and adoption of unwanted and homeless dogs and cats in the Atlanta area.
Where is The Dog House Rescue located?
Our main Foster home and office is located in Tucker, Georgia. We hold adoptions at Various locations on the weekends.
Does The Dog House Rescue come and get animals if requested?
No, we do not pick up animals from any location. All intake requests must be accompanied by an intake form that can be filled out on this site. All intake requests are subject to available space.
Does The Dog House Rescue ever do "discounts" or "payment plans" on adoptions?
No. The reason is a simple one..It is important that a home be able to provide regular Veterinary care and also be able to afford emergency medical care if the need arises. The adoption fee is just the beginning of a financial commitment that can last 12-20 years over the life of the Cat or Dog. The Dog House also relies solely on donations to operate and the adoption fee only offsets partially the medical care, spaying and neutering and any other required care our Dogs and Cats receive.
Why are the adoption fees for some of your animals more than others?
Small dogs and/or various breeds of cats and dogs are more popular than others. Although we feel that no price can be placed on an animal we are often challenged on how to sustain much needed funding for our services. The fees we charge do not cover all of our expenses as we provide surgery for animals that have been hit by cars, abused/neglected, and/or born with defects. We do not raise our prices for each animal that has undergone surgery since the adoption fee would be unaffordable for most. In order to compensate for these animals that would otherwise be passed over, rejected by other programs, or euthanized we raise the adoption fee on those animals that are the most sought after. By charging a little more for some animals others are afforded the chance they might not otherwise recieve at a better life.
